As we mark one year of our new Crisis Text Line community, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible ways we’ve come together and supported each other. In just 12 months, over 10,000 of you have joined our community, jumping into more than 9,000 discussions! And those discussions? They’ve sparked over 30,000 reactions and meaningful conversations, advice sharing, and support — showing just how much energy and passion you’re putting into making this space meaningful.

We’ve also hosted over 100 events in the past year, from skill refresh sessions and office hours to Q&A’s and everything in between, all designed to help us grow together and stay connected. And the impact of this connection is huge — we’ve seen that those of you who are actively engaging in our community are having twice as many conversations on our platform with texters, making a real difference in those moments when it matters most.

A huge thank you to each and every one of you for being a part of this journey. Your involvement and dedication have shaped this community into something truly special.

With this new update going live today, you’ll now be able to:

• Reply directly to specific comments, creating a clear and organized conversation flow.
  
• Follow the threads of discussion with ease, making it simpler to stay on top of replies and interactions.
  
• Engage in deeper discussions by responding to others' comments in context, without losing track of the original post.

This update will help create more meaningful and streamlined interactions, especially for those more detailed conversations. A huge thanks to volunteers @Becki Percy, @Graham Hill, and @Finnick Walsh, among others, for submitting their feedback about this new feature. 

Here are some new features you’ll see in our community when creating discussion or question posts:

1. Sort comments by options like "Oldest" (default), "Newest," "Top," or "Trending."
   
2. Copy the direct link to the post or comment, or quote the post or comment.
   
3. Share the post or comment by copying the link, emailing it, or sending it in a private message.
   
4. Expand or collapse comments as needed.
   
5. To reply to the original post, click "Reply" to respond to the author. To reply to other members' comments, click "Reply" directly on their comment.

If you ask or respond to a question in the community you will also find these additional features:

6. The original poster can mark your response as the accepted answer. These responses will be displayed under a new "Accepted Answers" tab.

7. If your reply is chosen as the accepted answer, you'll see the "Accepted Answer" label next to your name.

As 2024 comes to a close, our team wanted to take a moment to reflect on all we’ve been able to accomplish as a community. This year, you - our volunteers - have made a lasting impact by providing vital support to those in need during some of their most challenging moments. 

What I’m particularly proud of from this year, though, is witnessing how you’ve supported one another in this community space day in and day out. Whether it was helping one another during our SAM transition, encouraging new grads as they transitioned from training to taking their first conversation, and everything in between — you showed up for one another, and I can’t wait to be a part of that all over again in 2025. 

That said, we wanted to share our End of Year Recap, which highlights some of our accomplishments as a community throughout the year. We can’t wait to build off what we’ve done together this year and the team is excited to share what we’ve got planned for our community in 2025 very soon…👀

Speaking of the end of the year, a quick note from us to you: we’ll be participating in Crisis Text Line’s Holiday Break for employees starting December 24th and ending on January 1st. We’ll still be around and jumping into conversations during that time, but you may not see as much content from our teams over the break as folks take space to recharge before 2025 is underway.
