Hi there, Crisis Text Line Community! Welcome to the fifth edition of What’s New, our monthly roundup of all things new at Crisis Text Line.

We have lots to unpack, so here we go!

Volunteer Appreciation Celebrations

Staff Thank You Messages:

This month, several teams got together to celebrate you for all the contributions you make each day. If you’d missed the special thank you notes from our staff, we invite you to visit these posts:

Volunteer Spotlights:

Wonder who are our volunteer spotlights? Volunteers @Izzy, @Scott, @Ranae, @Sara, and @Amanda were featured throughout the month in our Community homepage, highlighting what keeps them inspired to volunteer with Crisis Text Line.

We also featured volunteers @Julie, @Izzy, @Mark, and @Jen in our Volunteer Appreciation Week blog where they shared how the community has made a difference in their volunteer journey. Share this impactful blog with your friends so they can learn more about our volunteer opportunity.

Volunteer Appreciation Gifts for You:

  • Milestones Digital Designs - We collaborated with volunteer @Julie Martha who designed these wonderful visuals that you can use to celebrate your volunteer accomplishments in your social networks. Thank you for sharing your talents Julie!
  • 2024 Volunteer Appreciation Badge - As a token of appreciation for your contributions to the mission, we’ve made this special badge available to all our active volunteer members. Congratulations! You can find all of your earned badges in your profile
  • Free month of BetterHelp Therapy - We’ve partnered with BetterHelp to offer one month free therapy to all of our volunteers! Remember: We all deserve to take care of our own mental health.

Want to share your appreciation for fellow volunteers?

  • Give a shoutout - a place where you can drop your appreciation to those who’ve made a huge impact in your volunteer journey or simply was supportive in your recent shifts.
  • If you had the opportunity to send an appreciation card to your fellow volunteers, what would you write? Drop your message in this “What would you write in an appreciation card for your fellow volunteers” post.
  • Join us in congratulating @Yosef Loriner on his commitment to Cornell Law School. Let’s come together to celebrate his achievement in the comments here

Tips of the Month:

Are you looking for ways to self-care and rest your mind? Here are three discussions full of great tips!

  • Learn more about "Closing Open Loops" – a great exercise led by @Jasmine Pina to help us in handling all those lingering “to do’s” that exist in the back of our minds that get in the way of rest.
  • We talk about self-care, but how does that relate to mental rest? Share your thoughts in this interactive Self-care and mental rest post led by @Kelly Henderson.
  • This work requires a lot of our energy, which means we need to have a good healthy sleep for us to be in the right headspace to help others. Check out this blog led by @Harshil Vijayan on ways to improve your sleep.

Your Impact

Last month, we collectively supported 112,340 conversations on our platform! Not only that, but together we were able to keep our texter satisfaction at 84% while also keeping wait times to less than 5 minutes 76% of the time

In Case You Missed It:

  • Did you miss any of our Safety Assessment live sessions? Check out this post where you can find all of our available resources and recordings of our past live sessions.
  • Were you one of our Early Bird or Second Chances giveaway winners? We announced the winners in this Safety Assessment Perks discussion thread on 4/11 and 4/22. Join us in congratulating all of our winners!
  • This month we’ve added a new space in the Community – “Ask a Supervisor”. Here you’ll be able to gain more clinical insight and engage with Senior Supervisors outside of taking conversations on the platform.
  • Our resource suggestion process is changing! If you know of any resources that you’d like to submit for use on the Platform, be sure to read what the new process is here
